Importance of Cyber Security

Nowadays, cyber-attacks on company systems have become more common. The most vulnerable companies are those that have little protection or do not have a network and data security policy in place.

Cyberattacks can happen in a variety of ways, including:

  • Due to the lack of protection – antivirus – that protects the company’s data network.
  • Use of public internet networks which makes data access vulnerable to computers and mobile devices.
  • Carelessness on the part of users when accessing websites with unknown content or downloading documents from untrustworthy websites.
  • Sharing data with individuals outside the company

Almost 2 years ago, one of Australia’s largest telephone operators suffered a cyber-attack that caused customers’ personal data to be leaked. The leak, in addition to generating Government sanctions against the company, also caused discomfort on the part of customers in addition to tarnishing the brand’s image.

Some of the consequences of having the company’s data system hacked are, for example:

  • Fines applied by the government.
  • Lawsuits.
  • Depreciation of the brand.
  • Loss of business.
  • Lack of credibility
  • Possible large expense depending on severity.

Crystal Migration encourages companies to have a strong Cyber Security provider, and policies and procedures in place, so that the business is not put under risk.
